Montgomery County, MD: Tonight, U.S. Senate candidate Kevin B. Zeese will
be joining in commemoration of 2,000 soliders killed in Iraq by participating in
civil disobedience in front of the White House.
"The U.S. government is participating in an illegal occupation of Iraq.
The war was justified on false pretenses and Iraq was no threat to the United
States or its neighbors. Polls show the public opposes the war and wants U.S.
troops to return home, yet not one U.S. senator has voted to stop the funding of
the occupation," said Zeese. "When the government refuses to listen to the
people then extraordinary measures must be taken -- including civil
disobedience."
"My participation in this event should show the voters of Maryland that I
am serious about ending this illegal occupation and regaining the moral vision
of the United States. The only way we can bring stability to Iraq and regain
the respect of the world is to exit Iraq rapidly -- in an orderly and
responsible way," concluded Zeese.
Zeese is running independent of the two old parties and seeking the
nomination of the new and independent parties, including the Green, Populist and
Libertarian Parties in Maryland.
