Opponents
in 2004 Presidential Campaign Unite Behind Zeese
Montgomery County, MD: Today, Kevin
Zeese for U.S. Senate announced that two former rivals in the 2004
presidential race have endorsed Zeese's campaign in Maryland. In
their joint statement they said:
“Kevin Zeese's run for the U.S. Senate will build the Green Party
in Maryland and nationally, and provide the Greens with a strong
candidate who is an effective advocate for Green values. Kevin Zeese
has shown himself to be persistent in his quest for peace, justice,
democracy and prosperity. He has 30 years of credible leadership
experience in advocating for social, racial and economic justice with
national credentials and name recognition in a number of movements
including the anti-war, democracy and drug policy and criminal
justice reform movements. Therefore, we endorse Kevin Zeese for the
U.S. Senate.”
David Cobb was the Green Party's
presidential candidate in 2004. Peter Miguel Camejo was the vice
presidential candidate in Ralph Nader's presidential campaign.
“I greatly appreciate the support of
these two Green Party leaders – both of whom are seeking to grow
the Green Party and encourage independent politics in the United
States. David Cobb and Peter Camejo's endorsement demonstrates that
all Greens can unite behind my campaign for 'peace, justice,
democracy and prosperity,'” said Zeese. “The 2004 election was a
very challenging one for the Green Party creating bitter divides but
the need for candidates who advocate an end to the Iraq War and a
government that puts the peoples priorities first will bring Greens
and voters across the political spectrum together.”
Zeese is seeking the nomination of the
Maryland Green Party as well as the Populist Party of Maryland and
the Libertarian Party of Maryland in his “Unity Campaign.” His
Campaign Committee includes independents, Democrats and Republicans
as well as members of the three independent political parties.
