Takoma Park, Md. (AP) - Montgomery County political activist Kevin Zeese says he plans to file Monday with the state Board of Elections to run for one of Maryland's two U.S. Senate seats.
Zeese says he hopes to draw support from three different parties, the Greens, the Populists and the Libertarians, in his bid for the seat to be vacated next year by a retiring Senator Paul Sarbanes.
Zeese was press secretary for Ralph Nader during the 2004 campaign.
Zeese says a major campaign platform will be opposition to the war in Iraq.
He will also continue to push for electronic voting systems that produce paper receipts for voters to see, an issue he worked on during the last election.
