Privacy Policy PDF  | Print |  E-mail

The Kevin Zeese Exploratory Committee (hereinafter "we" or "us") is committed to protecting the privacy of personal information that you submit to us online. We have created this privacy policy to help you understand when and how personal information is collected, used, disclosed, and protected when you use the Kevin Zeese Exploratory Committee web site (hereinafter the "Site"). Laws pertaining to unsolicited commercial email and telephone solicitation generally do not apply to political campaigns, but it is our intention to honor your preferences in these matters. Our hope, naturally, is that as a supporter of Kevin Zeese, you will wish to be closely involved and in touch with campaign activities.

Collection of Personal Information
We collect a variety of personal information from supporters and other users of our internet resources. Personal information is information that can be directly associated with a specific person or entity such as a name, address, telephone number, email address or information about activities directly linked to that person. For example, we collect personal information about you when you ask to join our mailing list or make a donation.

We collect some personal information about you when you make a contribution, so that we can comply with federal law. For example, we ask for your name, address, daytime phone number, employer, occupation, and credit card information. We also ask you to make a series of statements about your contribution so we can ensure that it is legal to accept it. We are required to disclose certain information about your contribution to the Federal Election Commission, which in turn makes certain information available to the general public. To learn more about the Federal Election Commission, please visit www.fec.gov.

We are required by law to use our best efforts to collect and report the name, mailing address, occupation and name of employer of individuals whose contributions exceed $200 per election cycle, and this information is required for any contribution submitted to the federal government for purposes of matching fund payments.

Collection of Internet Protocol (IP) addresses
In addition to its collection by the standard logging mechanisms of our Web server, which is not connected with what you may have done on the pages you visited, we collect the IP address through which you are connected to the Internet when you submit forms on our Site. Your IP address usually identifies your physical connection to the Internet through a certain Internet Service Provider (ISP). It also may provide a means of identifying the city, community and/or business from which you are connecting. In cases where you have a “static” IP address (which does not change, and which you would generally specifically have requested from your ISP) your IP address may uniquely identify your specific physical Internet connection. A static IP address may provide a means of specifically identifying you (or people on your local network, if you share one external IP address) on a future visit to the Site. When you submit a form, the IP address is stored with the contents of your form submission, which may include personal information. This gives us a means of blocking form submissions from unscrupulous persons who may use our forms to harass us or others, or to intentionally waste our resources. In extreme cases, we will use IP addresses collected with form submissions to contact the Internet service provider of someone abusing the tools on our site to file abuse reports and to otherwise enforce this policy. IP address data collected with form submissions from those utilizing our Site tools for the purposes for which they were intended is not utilized in any way.

Email Communications Tracking
Email communications from us may incorporate mechanisms which allow us to track the effectiveness of our email campaigns. We may employ techniques to discern whether a specific message was opened and whether specific links contained in email messages were clicked. Such techniques are only possible in emails sent in HTML format, and we provide the option of receiving email in plain text format, which does not allow such mechanisms. However, this being an electoral effort, we hope that supporters understand and agree on the importance of tracking and maximizing effectiveness of communications and the resources that pay for them. These techniques are employed to determine the quality of our mailing list in terms of actually deliverable messages, effectiveness of email subject lines in getting people to look at our messages, and the interests of our supporter base as demonstrated by the links which are clicked in emails. These techniques may or may not actually be employed in a given message.

Web Cookies
Some tools on our Site may employ Web cookies, which are small text files stored by a Web site on your own computer through a mechanism provided by your Web browser. Cookies make it possible to store preferences from page to page, and we may employ them in cases where you log in to access specific features, or to record a particular preference such as disabling animation. Cookies cannot provide to us any information from your computer which we did not store there ourselves. We do not store any personally-identifying information in cookies. No one who viewed your cookie file on your computer would have access to any personal information we hold for you.

Use and Disclosure of Personal Information
In general, we use the personal information that you give us to process your donations, to fulfill your email notification requests, and to comply with applicable Federal election regulations. We may contact you by email and/or telephone in order to acknowledge a contribution. Since this is a political campaign, committee staff, a volunteer or a representative of a separate company engaged by us may contact you by email or telephone to ask you to participate in campaign, organizing or fundraising activities, to solicit contributions, or to provide you with information regarding events, resources, and issues that we have reason to believe may interest you. In cases where we supply your contact information to a third party for purposes of such contacts, we will first require the third party to agree to non-disclosure of your personal information, and to agree not to use it for any purpose other than that for which we supplied it.

When you subscribe to an email list on this Web site, you will be provided with information about the process of unsubscribing and changing your subscription information. We will honor any request that you not be sent email or not be called by telephone within 10 days of the date the request is made; but regardless of any such notification, we may contact you by email, postal mail or telephone if necessary to provide notifications or collect information as required to fulfill our obligations under the law.

If you make a contribution to the Kevin Zeese Exploratory Committee, by credit or debit card, the credit or debit card information along with the billing address you provide will be disclosed to the necessary financial institutions and processing companies for transaction processing purposes.

For legal and accounting purposes, we will keep contribution records for (at least) the period required by law or for the period required for us to fulfill our legal reporting requirements, whichever is longer.

The Kevin Zeese Exploratory Committee, will only disclose personal information with your consent or as described in this section. The Kevin Zeese Exploratory Committee, will not sell personal information provided through this Web site to unrelated third parties except in cases where you explicitly opt-in to such an action.

We recognize the importance of security for all personally-identifiable information collected through our Web site. We take steps to protect against the loss, misuse, or unauthorized alteration of personally-identifiable information collected through this Web site. In the event we request or transmit sensitive information, such as credit card information, we use industry standard, secure socket layer ("SSL") encryption.
