An Independent "Unity for Change" Campaign for the Senate
Kevin ZeeseI'm running for U.S. Senate because the two major parties no longer represent the interests of most Americans. A recent poll described in July 16 th Economist, asked voters if they thought their elected officials represented their priorities. Only 17 percent said yes. And, if we look at the policies being put in place by those in office we repeatedly see that the American people are correct – their views are unrepresented. Read more...
Perils of the state's angry politics
Sunday, 04 June 2006
From the Baltimore Sun, by David Nitkin

Excerpt:
Some candidates are trying to capitalize on voter disgust with the two-party system. Kevin Zeese, an anti-war activist who has led an effort against Maryland's electronic voting machines, is running for U.S. Senate this year as a "fusion" candidate, seeking the nominations of the Green, Libertarian and Populist parties.

He says he is addressing issues that major party candidates won't, such as challenging U.S. policy in Israel and calling for a tax-reform plan that would exempt an individual's first $100,000 in income from taxation. To replace the revenue, he would impose an 0.1 percent "microtax" on the purchase of stocks, bonds, derivatives and currency, which he says would raise $1.2 trillion yearly.

Zeese acknowledges that many independent voters are turned off by politics entirely. "But others are looking for a leader," he said.

"Partisanship has gotten really ugly in Maryland," he said. "There is a divide between the leadership of the two parties and the voters of the two parties. There is an opportunity here if the right candidate comes along."

Zeese Criticizes Lamone for Phony Security Study

"We need real election security, not fake reviews by Diebold allies"

Selection of Pro-Diebold Firm Shows Lack of Confidence that Maryland's Election System Can Withstand Real Scrutiny

For Immeidate Release: June 2, 2006

Montgomery County, MD:  U.S. Senate candidate, Kevin B. Zeese, today criticized the State Election Administrator, Linda Lamone, for selecting well-known Diebold and paperless voting advocates to conduct a security study of Maryland's voting system.  "This review will not restore the confidence of Maryland's voters.  It will be shocking if the firm selected by Ms. Lamone does anything but approve of the voting system.  It is a shame that rather than taking these concerns seriously Ms. Lamone continues to seek to cover-up the problems. Maryland needs real election security, not fake reviews by Diebold allies."

Feature: Drug Reformers Take the Third Party Path in Bids for Statewide Office
Friday, 02 June 2006
By Phillip Smith

June 2, 2006

Frustrated by the two major parties' indifference -- if not downright hostility -- toward ending the decades-old war on drugs, at least three prominent drug reform leaders have launched bids for statewide office as third party candidates. In Alabama, US Marijuana Party founder Loretta Nall is running for governor on the Libertarian Party ticket. In Connecticut, the state's most prominent drug reformer, Cliff Thornton of Efficacy is running for governor as a Green. And in Maryland, Common Sense for Drug Policy's Kevin Zeese is running a unity campaign under the banners of the Green, Libertarian and Populist parties.
